Caprock Academy Car Pool Program
To reduce drop off and pick up traffic, we encourage all families at Caprock Academy to participate in a car pool. Those families, students, and staff members who participate in our program are rewarded for their part in minimizing the impact of school traffic around the school. Participating in a car pool could help ease the stress of the daily rush and give you a chance to make new friends in the community. Plus, consider the idea of donating those saved gas funds to the school for our children's education!
Car Pool Status
Car pool status is defined as 3+ students. In order to utilize the car pool lanes, 3 or more students need to be picked up during the pick up process.
Car Pool Network
Caprock Academy’s Car Pool Committee attempts to assist parents in establishing a volunteer car pool network, however it is up to you to contact the families in your area and to coordinate your schedules. Caprock Academy will not be responsible for the management of the individual car pools. Car Pool Request forms are available to families throughout the school year on the website and in the Administration Building. Complete the Car Pool Request form and return it to the school office, attention Car Pool Coordinator. We will then furnish you with a list of all families, sorted by Quadrant, who wish to participate. You will be added to the Car Pool Participant List. Using the Car Pool Participant List, we ask that you contact each other and try to work out a satisfactory ride-sharing program.
Car Pool Number
To participate in the car pool program, you will need to register for a car pool number. Look for the Car Pool Number Registration Form on the website or in the Administration building. Each car pool group will have laminated number cards for the drivers to display in the driver’s side window when approaching the designated carpool lane. From the carpool lane, proceed to the carpool pick up area. All the students in that assigned carpool group will have matching number tags attached to their backpacks. The weekly Car Pool Captain (parent volunteer) has a list to match numbers to students and appropriate drivers. A volunteer will assist the students into the car.
Registration Changes
If your child will not be participating in the car pool pick up that they are registered for, for any reason, a Car Pool Change slip will need to be submitted to the office prior to the dismissal of school that day. A Car Pool Change slip is also available online, and can be faxed to the Administration building. No verbal changes will be allowed.
Volunteers
The car pool program is run by parent volunteers. Volunteer opportunities are available after school during the pick up process for organizing car pool children, as weekly Car Pool Captain, and for administrative purposes. If you would like to be a Car Pool Committee Volunteer, please contact the school office at 243-1771.
