5th Grade History Projects
Mrs. Meier's 5th Grade History Project
Our 5th grade class at Caprock Academy has been studying European explorers from the 1400’s through the early 1600’s. Students were able to choose unit projects they created based upon individual interests and talents. Project presentations included recitations of original poems about slavery, a skit about sailors’ diets and scurvy, an African tribal dance performance, speeches “in character”, dioramas of early settlements, models of caravels (ships), navigational instruments exhibits, posters on the Spice Trade, and interactive map displays. Each project involved research done outside of class and included an oral presentation. I am very proud of all of my students’ efforts and am excited about all that they learned through this activity.
