K-8 Monthly Reading Challenges

At Caprock Academy, we believe in fostering a lifelong love of reading. Our Reading Challenges are designed to motivate students through fun, optional activities that reward their progress. These challenges are not required, but we encourage participation to enhance reading skills and make learning enjoyable.

How It Works
Each month, Reading Challenge Trackers are emailed to all K-8 parents. Students can log their reading, and completed logs should be submitted to their homeroom teacher by the dates listed on monthly flyers.

The Benefits of Reading
Reading with your child, having them read to you, or supporting independent reading as they grow are excellent ways to support their development:
  • Boosts Language Skills: Improves vocabulary, listening, and communication.
  • Strengthens Bonds: Encourages quality time together.
  • Sparks Imagination: Broadens horizons and promotes creativity.
  • Builds Independence: Fosters responsibility and self-discipline.
  • Enhances Academic Performance: Leads to better comprehension, writing, and critical thinking skills.

Get Involved
Use the monthly Reading Challenge Trackers emailed to you, log your child's reading, and submit the tracker to their teacher. For questions or more details, contact Mrs. Andrea Simonds-Cummings at [email protected].

Let’s inspire a love of reading at Caprock Academy!

Reading Program Needs

Our reading program needs your help! We are currently accepting prize donations for our monthly reading challenges.  Here are some examples of items that we are looking for:

  • Small items with your business logo
  • Pencils
  • Legos
  • Food items like candy or popcorn

We gladly accept book donations all year long, so that we can continue to encourage the love of reading!  If you find yourself getting rid of some unwanted books at home, please feel free to drop them off to the school office during normal business hours.

We are also looking for a few volunteers that will be able to donate their time with putting prizes together, handing them out to teachers or even help with organizing our library from time to time.

Please contact us if you are interested in being a part of our Lending Library program.
